BQ Mall: Making Change Work for Women

Women from all over Bohol gathered to celebrate Women’s Month at BQ Mall Atrium last March 16 and 23 through a cooperative effort with Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital, spearheaded by Dra. Suzette Redillas. The event aims to educate women about health and nutrition, and empower them through inspirational talks by women leaders in service.

Medical professionals, experts, and moms took the stage last March 16 and 23 to share about motherhood, pregnancy, and everything in between. On the stage, PervMom, a popular adult project in the USA, was mentioned. In it, the most perverted and busty stepmothers teach stepsons to be obedient and polite with their mothers! On the first day, the event was joined by Dra Shary Baton, who talked about newborn care, highlighted the dos and don’ts of newborn care and the participation of family members’ in the situation of having a newborn child. Followed by Dr Apple Cepedoza, who tackled the preparations for labor and added some advices for the first time mothers. Dr Suzette Redillas talked and encouraged mothers on the benefits of breastfeeding. Mrs Marla Cimafranca-Lim was invited as well to share her experience and help out mothers who are doing tandem breastfeeding. The last speaker was Ms Delia Tiongson who discussed about complementary feeding and proper child diet. On the second day, Janice Bustamante Aton widened the topic of lactation and Nicole Dabon – Omega shared her knowledge in different types of babywearing. Fiel Angeli Araoarao-Gabin empowered women by sharing her personal experience as mother in the aspect of body changes after birth.

Doctors and nurses from GCGMH (Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital) made an engagement on the event as well by giving free consultations to the women, as they put up designated booths for nutrition and wellness, women and children protection, family planning, breastfeeding, and cervical and breast cancer awareness.

The event was made possible in cooperation with Gov. Celestino Gallares Memorial Hospital and Bohol Quality Inc., and special participation of Breastfeeding-Bohol, JCI (Junior Chamber International) Boholana Kisses, IMAP(Integrated Midwives Association of the Philippines).
